Do you have big plans for Valentine’s Day?

Perhaps some nice jewelry?

Or, maybe you have slower paced ideas in mind?

As you know, Valentine’s Day is one the biggest commercial holidays of the year. The grocery store aisles have been filled with Valentine’s Day candy since Christmas, and everything around us is encouraging us to buy, buy, and buy some more!

Well, I love chocolate and jewelry just as much as the next gal, but the hubs and I are going to have a more low key Valentine’s Day this year.

What are we doing?

Well, I’m so glad you asked…

We’re just going to have a nice, romantic dinner in the comfort of our own home made by the hubs.

You might not know this, but my hubs is a great cook! I tease him that it’s the main reason I married him. These days, he doesn’t have a lot of time to cook for me, so I asked him if he’d do so for a special Valentine’s day event. He’s actually really excited about it (and I am too!)

I’m not sure what’s on the menu, but I am sure it’s going to be amazing. Honestly, that’s the best gift I could possibly ask for this year: a little quality time with some great food and undoubtably, some great wine. :)

Of course, if you have bigger plans in mind and want a little cash to do so, enter the giveaway below courtesy of Rather-Be-Shopping.com. They are a great company that teaches others how to save money with online coupons, like free shipping coupons, and now they are giving away $500 in PayPal cash to one lucky winner!

The contest runs February 7 – February 28. Good luck, and let me know what your plans are for Valentine’s Day in the comment section below!

Lovely comments:

  1. Glad to be a part of a giveaway with you! :)

  2. That sounds like a perfect Valentine’s Day! Enjoy!

  3. Sounds like pretty much what we’ll be doing. We’re pretty low key ourselves and just buy simple gifts and I’ll probably whip up something nice on the grill.

  4. Sounds exactly like what we will be doing. I cooked for her on our first date so why mess with what works!!

Thanks for participating in this event!

  5. We keep it simple for Valentine’s and cook a nice meal and bake something ooey gooey and the rest is shhhhhh… Have a lovely Valentines Day!

  6. Aww, sounds lovely. Bf and I will probably celebrate on Saturday instead of actual Valentine’s day, since after a long day of work in the middle of the workweek it’s hard to be romantic. Maybe a few tacos from the taco truck and some chocolate kisses on the actual day.

  7. I am not a big fan of V-Day at all (subject of this morning’s post!) Here’s to a lovely low key evening :)

  8. I agree on the whole low key celebrating. It`s a day to spend with those you love, not a day to spend money.

  9. We spent the day with our lovely dog Rooney and played it low key. My boyfriend bought me flowers the day before and we met up with a new tenant for our condo (income property) that just signed an 18 month lease!
