How Spray Paint Can Make A Beachy Bright Tablescape!

Going to thrift stores will never cease to thrill me! They could be grody, grungy, and icky, but man can you find some good treasures.
For example, check out my little candle holder below that I scored for a whopping $0.75 at our local St. Vincent de Paul store. Sometimes, you have to splurge on the good stuff. :) Anyway, you know I snatched that baby up faster than you can say quatrefoil (which isn’t very fast by the way).
And the wooden medallions stacked up below? Those are Katrina salvage – as in, my grandfather’s neighbor gave him permission to take whatever he wanted out of their Hurricane Katrina-ravaged house. Just like us, those little wooden medallions braved the storm and deserved a little love.
And we can’t forget about a set of lamps that my mom bought on super sale at Kirklands for $7.00 a piece.
Despite the strange fringe and paint job, they were the perfect size for a side table in her dining room. So, we did what any DIY obsessed mother-daughter team would do with all these treasures: We spray painted.
Can you just smell the fumes from the picture? As you can see, we got a little excited about making over her dining room, and grabbed lots of other things to spray paint too.
Today, I’ll show you how we used some of them to perk up her side table. Tomorrow, I’ll show you the mantle we re-did as well as our trick for an inexpensive table runner.
Basically, after spray painting those lamps, I removed the fringe from the lampshade which was remarkably easy. We originally thought we’d have to cover the lamp shades with fabric, but the white paint toned them down so much, they ended up looking beachy and neutral as is. We also hung the painted wooden medallions and a framed picture of my parents that my brother, sister, and I gifted them for their 30th wedding anniversary. That, paired with a really cool tray my mom had, brightened up this side table so much!

Tune in tomorrow to see where my little quatrefoil candle holder ended up, as well as the other goodies you saw pictured!
Has anyone else been feeling the love of white spray paint lately? Or maybe you found something awesome at a thrift store for under a buck? If so, I’d love to hear about it!
